Commanding the famous Seventh U.S. Cavalry, Lt. Colonel George A. Custer, leads his column of troops on the march from Ft. Lincoln, Dakota Territory to Montana Territory. Custer and his troops were in pursuit of Sioux and Cheyenne Indians who were living outside of their reservations. On June 25, 1876, Custer's column found a huge Indian encampment located along the Little Bighorn River in southeastern Montana. They soon were under attack and were eventually overrun by the onslaught of warriors from the village. "Toward the Valley" honors the 140th Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn which will take place in 2016.
